Cindy Shapiro is a partner with Taylor Blessey LLP. Specializing in civil defense in the areas of professional liability, general liability, elder abuse, labor and employment, HIPAA compliance, and appeals, Ms. Shapiro has over 20 years of experience defending individuals and entities in legal malpractice, medical malpractice and other civil matters. Ms. Shapiro has successfully argued in excess of 25 appeals, both in the various districts of the California appellate court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. She has also tried a number of professional liability cases, including jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations.
Prior to joining Taylor Blessey, Ms. Shapiro was a partner at Reback, McAndrews, Kjar, Warford & Stockalper, where her professional liability practice included the representation of lawyers, healthcare providers, accountants and brokers in malpractice actions, employment disputes, general liability matters, and transactional/contract issues. She is involved in all aspects of case management, from pre-litigation through to trial, arbitration and appeal.
Ms. Shapiro received her J.D. from Loyola Law School and won the American Jurisprudence Award for Trial Advocacy. She earned a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California at Irvine. Ms. Shapiro has lectured on the topics of ethics, claims avoidance, record keeping, HIPAA compliance, litigation skills and lawsuit management to numerous healthcare providers, attorneys and real estate brokers. She has also participated and judged numerous mock trials for educational purposes, case outcome prediction and competitions.
Ms. Shapiro is licensed by the California State Bar, Central and Eastern Districts, U.S. District Courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. She is a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
