Denise Taylor is a founding partner and the managing partner of Taylor Blessey LLP. For the past 35 years, she has defended doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers in medical and dental malpractice cases. Ms. Taylor has tried or arbitrated over 150 cases, and has special expertise in high exposure cases involving birth injuries and other catastrophic damages. She has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including being recognized in Best Lawyers in America, Southern California Super Lawyers, and as one of the Los Angeles Daily Journal’s Top Women Litigators. In 2015, she was named to Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America. She is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Ms. Taylor graduated from Pacific Union College (magna cum laude) with a B.A. degree in History in 1978, and received her J.D. degree from Pepperdine University in 1981. At Pepperdine, she was a member of Law Review, and was published in the Pepperdine Law Review Journal. Out of law school, she began her career at Bonne, Jones, Bridges, Mueller & O’Keefe, where she remained until starting Taylor Blessey LLP in 2006.
Ms. Taylor is a sought after speaker on trial advocacy as well as medical and dental malpractice issues. She has been on the faculty of the Los Angeles Chapter of ABOTA’s Jack Daniels Trial School; has participated in the ABOTA Masters in Trial series both locally and nationally; is an annual speaker at the ABOTA Leadership Conference, which she co-chaired in 2012; has been a speaker at the ASCDC’s Annual Seminar and Santa Barbara Seminars; and has been a participant in the Mock Trial and Medical Malpractice seminar panels for the Consumer Attorneys Annual Las Vegas Convention, among many others.
Ms. Taylor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). She is the 2017 President of CAL-ABOTA. She was the 2012 President of the Los Angeles Chapter of ABOTA. She served on the National Executive Committee of ABOTA as Treasurer from 2014-2016. Ms. Taylor was President of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel (ASCDC) in 2013, and is a former member of the California Defense Counsel. She is a fellow of the International Society of Barristers, and a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America. She is also a member of the California Medical Legal Committee.
